The Women’s Euro 2025 is in full swing, and the nations with their eyes on the main prize have all made their mark, with statement wins for Spain, France (against England), Germany, and the Netherlands.
A week after the tournament began, it already looks like Spain, already qualified and are the 2023 World Champions, are the team to beat, and they have certainly made their case with two spectacular wins.
But we are still in the early days, and the other big nations will all fancy their chances, and there are plenty of matchwinners who have made some spectacular Women’s Euro 2025 highlights over the past few days. So let’s take a look at four of the women who have already hit the net and are on the hunt for more goals.
Esther Gonzalez, Spain
On Monday night, Spain showed once again just how devastating they can be in attack as they dismantled Belgium 6-2 to race through to the knockout phase of the tournament.
The SBOTOP Women’s Euro 2025 betting odds have placed La Roja as the red-hot favourites to win the competition. And after following up a 5-0 battering of Portugal in their opener with this dismantling of Belgium, they look hugely impressive. Take a look at the Spain squad, which contains the legendary Alexia Putellas, midfield ace Aitana Bonmati, Barca’s rising star Claudia Pina, and the teen sensation Vicky Lopez, and it’s hard to see La Roja losing, and when you add in experienced hotshot Esther Gonzalez this is a team dripping in quality.
After bagging a brace against Portugal, Gonzalez scored her third goal of the tournament against Belgium to make it 36 in 53 internationals. And in a team of creative stars, she is a genuine poacher with a real taste for goals.
Marie-Antoinette Katoto, France
One of the brightest stars in European women’s football, the 26-year-old Katoto still has her best years ahead of her, and that is amazing to think as she has already racked up 39 goals in 56 games for Les Bleus while plundering 131 goals in 152 matches with PSG.
She has just been snapped up by Lyon and, in the meantime, Katoto is showing just why she is in such demand, scoring the opener in France’s 2-1 win over England last week.
Known for her speed, agility, strength, and close ball control and, most importantly her ability to score goals from anywhere, Katoto is one of the most exciting talents in the game, and she will scare any defence she meets, as the Lionesses will surely testify.
Next up, France face Wales in their second match and, after losing to the Netherlands in their opener the Euros newcomers could face a whirlwind when they meet Katoto and Les Bleues.
Lea Schuller, Germany

Following the retirement of the legendary Alexandra Popp, Bayern Munich striker Lea Schuller has taken the mantle of Germany’s spearhead, and there is no doubt the 27-year-old is up to the job. The eight-time European champions beat Poland 2-0 in their opener, and after Julie Brand had broken the deadlock, Schuller scored her 53rd goal in 76 internationals to see out the game. It could have been a lot worse for the Poles, who were making their debut at the Euros, but they defended stoutly.
Popp scored 67 goals in 144 internationals and was a big part of Germany’s successful team. But in Schuller, they have a better than one in two striker, with 68 goals in 107 matches for Bayern Munich. When Germany take on Denmark on Tuesday, she will be a good bet to hit the target again, maybe more than once.
Vivianne Miedema, Netherlands
When the Netherlands smacked Wales in their opener, there was an impressive milestone ticked off for one of the Oranje’s players as superstar striker Vivianne Miedema scored her 100th goal in the 3-0 win in Lucerne. The Manchester City star has reached her century in just 126 internationals and, at 28 years of age, she has much more to offer.
Wales are the lowest-ranked team in the tournament, but there are plenty of other defences who have been ripped apart by Miedema, who scored 80 goals in 106 appearances for Arsenal before switching to Manchester City in 2024.
She suffered a knee injury last October and only managed 11 games for the Sky Blues, scoring seven goals, but Miedema is back to full fitness and is ready to face England, in what could turn out to be a Group D decider on Wednesday.
