Antonio Conte’s Napoli remains top of Serie A with just two games to play and the Scudetto is in their hands if they win their last two.
But a 2-2 draw at home to Genoa on Sunday night has narrowed the lead over Inter Milan to a single point; and that has lifted hopes for I Nerazzurri that were disappearing fast. It’s still Napoli’s to lose but the tension has just increased tenfold!
Simone Inzaghi’s Inter went to Turin in search of a win to put Napoli under some pressure, and his players delivered with a professional display to draw level on points with I Partenopei. Nicola Zalewski took a pass from Alessandro Bastoni and arrowed the perfect shot from distance low into the corner of the Torino net to give I Nerazzurri a half time lead and, just after the break, they doubled that lead. Torino’s Vanka Milinkovic-Savic clattered into Mehdi Taremi and the referee pointed to the spot. Taremi took a couple of minutes to recover and then Kristjan Asllani made Il Toro pay when he calmly slotted his penalty into the bottom corner to double Inter’s lead.
Inzaghi’s men have a Champions League final against Paris Saint-Germain to look forward to and, after beating favourites Barcelona, they have a good chance of landing the European crown, as well as still being in the Scudetto race.
Over to Napoli.
The dominant play of Scott McTominay has been a feature of this Napoli title charge and he did superbly well to get behind the Genoa defence to cross for Romelu Lukaku’s opener on 15 minutes. But Genoa were soon level thanks to a huge slice of luck.
Honest Ahanor’s header bounced off the post onto the leg of Alex Meret and into the net for 1-1 at the break
Lukaku almost restored Napoli’s lead with the first attack of the second period when he met a cross from Leonardo Spinazzola, only to see it saved by Genoa stopper Benjamin Siegrist in the bottom corner. Siegrist was a busy boy, keeping out efforts from Giacomo Raspadori and Frank Anguissa, but when Raspadori had another chance, midway through the second half, he powered the ball home for 2-1. It was all Napoli from them on but as they pushed for a third the hosts were caught out again, this time a Johan Vasquez header beat Meret to make it 2-2.
The Serie A 2025 betting odds here at SBOTOP have backed Napoli for a few weeks now and they still do…but it’s just become a little tighter.
Battle for Fourth intensifies

The fourth versus fifth battle ended with honours even after Lazio and Juventus played out a dramatic and bad-tempered 1-1 draw in Rome. After a goalless first half loannee Randal Kolo Muani gave the Old Lady a lead early in the second period, and it was little more than the visitors deserved after a bright first 45. But things took a turn for the worse for I Bianconeri and opened the door for Lazio when right sided defender Pierre Kalulu was red carded on 60 minutes. The Romans laid siege to the Juve rearguard but it held out until deep onto stoppage time when Matias Vecino pounced to smash a rebound home and send the Lazio fans wild.
As well as Kalulu, Nicolo Savona and Khephren Thuram will both miss Juventus’ next game, at home to Udinese, as they each copped for a yellow card meaning they too will be suspended. Juve and Lazio stay fourth and fifth, but Roma, breathing down their necks, one point behind, play on Monday away to Atalanta. That will be a tough assignment for Roma, as La Dea are looking for the win which will confirm their third place and Champions League qualification.
Milan’s Euro hopes are re-awakened
In a dress rehearsal for the 2025 Coppa Italia final AC Milan fought back from a 1-0 deficit to beat Bologna 3-1, and move up to 60 points, and just four behind Juventus in the final Champions League spot. After a quiet first 45, Bologna striker Riccardo Orsolini struck early in the second period with a superb shot into the bottom corner. That goal sparked I Rossoneri into life and wing back Theo Hernandez came close to levelling before substitute Santiago Gimenez took the game away from Bologna.
The Mexican hit man levelled on 73 minutes with a cool finish through the keeper’s legs and then, minutes later, Christian Pulisic reacted quickly to make it 2-1 after Joao Felix’s shot had been parried. Bologna pushed for an equaliser but Giminez capped off his display with an injury time goal to make it 3-1 as Milan climbed to within two points of their seventh placed visitors.
In other Serie A 2025 news, and at the bottom end of the table, things are tightening up. Monza won away at Udinese but it’s a case of too little too late and the Lombardy club are the first team to be heading to the second tier with the other two relegation spots being contested between three teams. Venezia are second bottom with a game in hand, against Fiorentina on Monday night, and they have been overtaken by Empoli who picked up a priceless 2-1 win at home to Parma on Saturday to move up to 28 points. Lecce are on the same tally and currently in that coveted 17th place having picked up a hard earned point in a 1-1 draw away to Hellas Verona.
